About Me

Hi, my name is Shelley and my page is dedicated to my family's history that I have researched to date. I am a 52 yr old African American female. I am the mother of two sons, ages 33 and 17.I started researching my family in 1997. When I first started, I knew the name of only three great grand parent and that was my mother's maternal grand parents and her paternal grandmother.Since then I have discovered several ancestors in the census dating back to the 1870 census. My goal is to try and locate the last slave holder. My hope is that association with this site will assist me with that goal. My family surnames include: Bailey, Hamptom, Woodson, Clark, Worsham(Wisham) Wall, Davis and Richmomd.

Plantations/ Workplaces I'm Researching

• [Woodland Plantation - near Holly Springs MS in Marshall Co.] I found my GGgrand mother Alice Woodson as a child at abt. age 7 living in the same area as Richard Oscar Woodson in the 1870 census. She is in the household with her grandmother Amy Woodson Parham(Parkam) I am trying to investigate a connection with the white Woodsons,Richard as a possible last slave holder.

• [James and Edwin Wall Plantations in Carroll co. Miss.] - I located my GGGrand parents William and Mahaly Wall in the 1870 Carroll Co. Miss. census in close proximity of white Wall brothers James and Edwin. All list North Carolina as their place of birth and I suspect that they were the last slave holders.I have not found documentation.
