Miscellaneous Information

  • Main house: Martha Wheeler described John "Jacky" Knight's home as a double-pen log house with two enormous rooms on the front and two slightly smaller ones on the back (on the lean-to order) with a very large kitchen quite a distance back of the house. His slave quarters and work shops were arranged in front of his house in somewhat of a semi-circle, the cabins starting about 100 yards to the right and left of the front porch (gallery).
